Facebook Messenger Unsend message feature leaks in images

Facebook Messenger may be getting an Unsend feature soon

You've nearly certainly said something you regretted in a chat, whether it was because you were exhausted, angry, or just looking at the wrong conversation - but Facebook Messenger could soon get a feature that'll let you take those misguided statements back.

On Friday, Facebook declined to say when the feature will actually arrive, but it remains in the works, a company spokeswoman said. As a result of that discovery, Facebook hurriedly announced that it would make the feature available to all users soon.

Currently, when users delete something they sent on Messenger, it disappears only from their own inbox. The recipient can still see the message.

Editing messages within the Messenger app will show an "Unsend Message" option in addition to the standard "Delete Message" button.

Wong noted that users would be allowed to take back their messages only after a certain amount of time.

Facebook may be getting closer to launching an unsend feature for Facebook Messenger. Facebook, though, would need to ensure that the Unsend message tool does not get misused, or be another source through which user privacy could be compromised.
