Vietnam exerts efforts to ease climate change impacts

Almost 30 million people have watched a video exposing the climate breakdown in three stunning minutes

As a country badly-hit by climate change, Vietnam has been active in performing worldwide commitments and building plans to respond to climate change.

Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Country Director for Vietnam, said the IPCC report noted that severe impacts of climate change could be avoidable by limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, but time is running out.

Despite the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change which has been ratified by most nations - though the United States has withdrawn - some people remain sceptical about the scientific evidence on which the judgments about climate change are based.

Vietnam's contributions to global goals and climate change response in the fields of agriculture, rural development, natural resources, and the environment, among others, were also introduced at the event.

He was speaking at a leaders' meeting on Thursday of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), in Bali, Indonesia, United Nations news reported.

Riley said that all conversations "have been nothing but cordial". "There's been a couple of different incarnations of this deal". Pat Riley responded to the reports with a two-tweet statement posted to the Heat's official account on Friday evening.

He said the faster governments embrace the renewable energy revolution and move to protect communities at risk, the more lives and livelihoods that would be spared. "The heat waves, wildfires, and heavy rainfall events of recent months all over the world underscore these warnings", said Hoesung Lee, chair of the IPCC.

The IPCC was then invited to build the "Global Warming of 1.5 Degrees Celsius" report, a special report on the impact of global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways.

The likelihood of an Arctic Ocean free of sea ice in summer would be once per century with global warming of 1.5°C, compared with at least once per decade with 2ºC.

In effect, the coalition government of Prime Minister Scott Morrison has roundly rejected the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report's call to phase out coal power by 2050. Coral reefs would decline by 70-90 percent with global warming of 1.5°C, whereas virtually all ( 99%) would be lost with 2ºC, Caitlin Wiesen added.

Wiesen also congratulated Vietnam on pioneering the update of its NDC through a dynamic and participatory process, where all ministries have taken an active role in defining their targets and identifying their priorities and actions. Coal is also Australia's largest export, according to McCormack.

For Canada, that means emissions would need to fall to a maximum of 385 million tonnes a year.
