Thierry Henry to replace Leonardo Jardim at Monaco

The 41-year-old French World Cup victor, who had been working as an assistant coach for the Belgian national team, signed a contract through until June 2021.

Henry will be looking to hit the ground running at the struggling Ligue 1 outfit and has opted to bring in some staff of his own to help his transition.

Jardim was sacked on Thursday, with Monaco now 18th in Ligue 1, having taken one win from their opening nine games.

This is Henry's first foray into management and he will soon leave from the role of second assistant coach of the Belgium national team under Roberto Martinez.

The former Arsenal and France forward replaces Leonardo Jardim, who was sacked by the Ligue 1 side on Thursday.

Vadim Vasilyev, Monaco's chief executive, added: 'His knowledge of football, his passion for the game, his high standards and his commitment to our colors make his nomination a reality. He will be joined by Joao Carlos Valado Tralhao, U23 coach of Benfica, and Patrick Kwame Ampadu, coach at the Arsenal Academy.
