Usain Bolt scores two goals in trial game for Central Coast Mariners

Usain Bolt scored twice on his first start for Central Coast Mariners and must now wait to see if he has done enough to earn a deal with the A-League club.

The retired sprinter is trying to launch a football career down under, after hanging his spikes up previous year having won eight Olympic gold medals.

Bolt, the 100 metres world record holder and eight-time Olympic gold medal victor, joined Central Coast on trial in August in a bid to win a contract.

It was the first game Bolt has started since joining the A-League club in August for an indefinite trial.

He converted with a neat left-footed finish and a tap-in during the second half after goals from Ross McCormack and Jordan Murray had put the visitors in control in Sydney.

If the keeper was disappointed to let in Bolt's first strike, the second goal was embarrassing for him and his centre-back.

IMF flags global fiscal stability

"I think I made some slight mistakes but I'm just happy to get the chance and I'm proud of myself", Bolt told Fox Sports after his withdrawal on 75 minutes.

Again sporting the No 95 shirt - a reference to his world record time over 100m - and playing up front, Bolt started a match for the first time, following on from his 20-minute cameo off the bench for the Mariners over a month ago.

'I'm keen to be a Mariner, to play my best and get into the team'.

Here's hoping Bolt continues to impress and earns himself a contract with Mariners.

After plenty of hype before the game, they labelled it "one of the most memorable games in Australian football history".
