Lindsey Buckingham sues Fleetwood Mac over his firing from the band

Lindsey Buckingham speaks out on Fleetwood Mac ouster 'This is not the way you end something like this'

The group dismissed their former frontman in January, replacing him with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Neil Finn of Crowded House.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles earlier this week, claims his former bandmates "intentionally acted to interfere with Buckingham's relationship with Live Nation and the prospective economic benefit he was to receive as a result of his participation in the tour". He also basically claims the Mac is nothing without him.

Days later, he called Azoff and said: "This feels amusing".

Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and became part of what's known as the classic line-up of the group following the huge success of their Grammy Award winning album Rumours in 1977.

Even though he was "completely hurt", Buckingham said he wasn't heartbroken about not touring with the band.

Buckingham said he learned he had been dropped two days after a Grammy Musicares celebration in NY in January 2018 honouring the main members of the band - Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Buckingham. Azoff confirmed it was he who was "getting ousted" after Nicks had given the band "an ultimatum" and forced them to choose between him or her. Three days later, he discovered the band planned to tour without him.

While talking the worse about his then-girlfriend, she alleged that Sajid would touch his genitals and ask her to touch them. She would be furthermore humiliated by him with comments on her breast and ass being non-existent for her to be an actress.

Buckingham included in the lawsuit a copy of an email he sent to Fleetwood in February, begging the band to overcome its differences. "We have all done things that were not constructive". As much as I adore (and forever will) Lindsey and all his work with FM, I can't help but like what I'm hearing here. "I love you no matter what".

While Buckingham admitted he didn't remember Azoff's exact words, he said "that was the message".

A Fleetwood Mac spokesperson added: "It's impossible for the band to offer comment on a legal complaint they have not seen". It's fairly standard legal procedure to service the complaint to the parties involved, something that neither Mr. Buckingham nor his legal counsel have done.

In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this week, Buckingham suggested that Nicks was behind his expulsion; after she felt he was disrespectful towards her at January's MusiCares show.

"Stevie [Nicks] never wants to be on a stage with you again", Azoff told Buckingham, who then went on to list things that "Stevie took issue with", namely some kind of outburst on Buckingham's behalf during their introduction music ("Rhiannon") and the way he smirked during Nicks' thank-you speech.

As we reported, though, Lindsey was kicked out before the band started its North American tour.
