Instagram Against Bullying: Application Kicks Off Battle Against Predators
According to the official announcement by the new head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, the social media platform is now making use of artificial intelligence/machine learning to track down harassment in photos and their text. They will also introduce a new camera effect as a feature which would spread kindness in Instagram stories. Mosseri said this advancement, which is rolling out now and will continue to do so over the coming weeks, is helpful as many bullying victims and observers don't report it. It's unclear what else the technology can detect and whether it would work on images without captions. The Artificial Intelligence integrated within the app automatically detects inappropriate behavior and sends it for review to community moderators, thus lessening the occurrence of bullying.
According to Instagram, using this machine learning capability will enable it to "significantly" increase its detection of bullying content.
The move will prevent users from posting defamatory notes as photos or images containing obscene, bullying or harassment-inducing content.
Recently, Mosseri replaced Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger as the new head who abruptly announced their departure in September.

Half of mental health disorders arise in adolescence
The lack of awareness and the severe shortage of mental health professionals in the country add to the problem. While social media keeps people connected, it builds additional pressure to project only the best.
Finally, Instagram wants its users to spread kindness, and to help do that, it has launched a new camera effect that puts hearts on the screen when in selfie mode. In rear mode, kind comments in different languages will appear for a user to post. You can click a picture and extend the kindness to your friends by tagging them.
In May, the company started filtering out bullying comments meant to harass or upset people.
Additionally, the platform is expanding its bullying comment filter to hide crude comments from the Feed, Explore, and Profile tabs, as well as live videos (above)-"to ensure that Live remains a safe and fun place to authentically connect with your friends and interests", Mosseri wrote. Users can also turn off comments on individual Instagram posts and block posts with certain keywords.
