'Forget about me,' Karim Benzema asks French football president

French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet has continued his public slanging match with Karim Benzema. "He is right (when he asks to be forgotten)", said Le Graet.

Benzema has not featured for his country since October 2015 after he was allegedly involved in a plot to blackmail his France team-mate Mathieu Valbuena in a sex-tape scandal.

Benzema has hinted in the past that Le Graet utilised the scandal to effectively condemn him to worldwide retirement and that World Cup-winning coach Didier Deschamps bowed to racist pressures to exclude him during the 2016 European Championship on home soil. It should have been judged much faster and it is rotten for us.

Benzema, who scored 27 worldwide goals in his 81 appearances with France, asked Le Graet to give him a break in a response posted on Twitter.

Benzema also also retweeted a post from his former agent that said: "Noel already put an end to Benzema's worldwide career, he said it in June, and now another time".

United States arrests alleged Chinese national for targeting major aviation companies
Ji targeted individuals in science and tech industries, seven of whom worked for or recently retired from USA defense contractors. He is accused of concealing his identity to recruit people he thought could provide the Chinese with trade secrets.

Le Graet had said in an interview with French newspapers that the 30-year-old Benzema's time with Les Bleus "was finished". For what reason? Do you feel like it's your fault?

Didier Deschamps has not included Benzema in any squad since the case came to light, with the player accusing the coach of bowing "to the pressure of a racist part of France" when ignoring him for Euro 2016.

Karim Benzema's hopes of returning to France's national soccer team appear to be shrinking.

Benzema's answering tweet went on: "France are world champions and that's the essential thing, the rest is just futile".
