Trump says he's spoken with Saudis at 'highest level' over Khashoggi

Turkish newspaper names 15 Saudis in case of missing reporter

"Our expectation is that in making your determination you will consider any relevant information, including with respect to the highest ranking officials in the Government of Saudi Arabia", they said.

Ankara backed Doha in denying the charges, instead accusing Saudi Arabia and its allies of using the pretext of terrorism allegations to suppress dissent at home.

The Saudi consulate and other authorities have not commented on the claims.

Turkish media showed CCTV video allegedly revealing a 15-member Saudi team sent to target missing Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

President Trump demanded a personal explanation from the Saudi government for the disappearance of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi amid signs that the United States believes Turkish accounts that he may have been murdered.

Mr Khashoggi has not been seen since he walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last week and never came out.

But the Post reported that the Saudis haven't presented any evidence he left the building and say that their video cameras weren't recording at the time.

Aksam newspaper also published blurred photos of a jet arriving in Istanbul before dawn on October 2, carrying what it said were nine members of the Saudi team, as well as images of some of them checking in at a hotel. The station did not cite a source for its report.

Khashoggi, a former Saudi government adviser, had been living in self-imposed exile in the United States since previous year fearing possible arrest.

Saudi Arabia's top leadership ordered the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Turkish officials said according to an explosive new report by The New York Times.

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said his department called on Saudi Arabia to "support a thorough investigation. and to be transparent about the results". His work was published in the Washington Post. He also said that the GOP is going to fare "very well" in the midterm elections. He was there to obtain paperwork he needed for their upcoming wedding. Crown Prince Mohammed reportedly offered Khashoggi government protection and a high-level job if he returned to the country, an offer the journalist was deeply skeptical of.

Khashoggi had been living in self-imposed exile in the United States for the past year.

President Trump said Wednesday that his fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, would "most likely be coming to the White House" in light of the "bad situation". It's unclear when such a search would take place. A search would be an extraordinary development, as embassies and consulates under the Vienna Convention are technically foreign soil and must be protected by host nations.

The Foreign Relations panel was weighing possible steps Congress could take toward Saudi Arabia, she told MSNBC.
