BCCI announces India squad for first 2 ODIs against Windies

Rishabh Pant in fray for five-match ODI series vs West Indies

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are set to come back after a much-needed break during the ongoing Test series.

India will take on West Indies in a 5-match ODI series, which is scheduled to be held from October 21 to November 1.

"That's the reason why we have included Khaleel, Shardul [Thakur] and Shami in this squad now", he said.

Among pacers, Mohammed Shami, who last played an ODI over a year ago, will once again be seen in the blue jersey. "More than the runs he scored, the composure and the body language he showed are the kind of things we look for from a player", Arun said.

Rishabh Pant will be in line to make his ODI debut against Windies after he was picked by the selectors as a replacement of Dinesh Karthik. "Only in case of an emergency, Pant will keep wicket", he said. "In the search of second wicketkeeper, we have given opportunities to DK". Virat Kohli, who was rested for the Asia Cup, will resume his limited overs captaincy in the ODI series.

The middle-order batting concern remains but Prasad said the team management "is very close to sorting out that problem".

Dhoni to play Vijay Hazare Trophy?

India will have to wait for the return of Hardik Pandya, who suffered a lower back injury during the Asia Cup in the UAE and had to be stretchered out.

Ambati Rayudu, after a good Asia Cup performance, will retain his place even if Kohli decides to play.

On the other hand, West Indies, their regular skipper Jason Holder is still not fit and their star bowler Shannon Gabriel is also doubtful for the final encounter.

Ravindra Jadeja, who was drafted into the Asia Cup squad after an injury to Axar Patel, has kept his place as has left-arm pace bowler Khaleel Ahmed.
