Huawei promises foldable phone within a year

Huawei tweets

Executive Director of Huawei Richard Yu said that the company is working on a revolutionary technology of flexible smartphone and present them in the next year.

The invitation offered few details but the mention of "4x fun" led to speculation about a new smartphone with four cameras or possibly a foldable handset. While Samsung is expected to launch the first consumer-grade foldable phone, the two rivals are likely to display radically different smartphones.

The remarks also come just weeks after DJ Koh, head of mobile at Samsung, said it was "time to deliver" on a foldable smartphone, fuelling speculation that the device could debut at the firm's developer conference in November. We can change that. "It is conceivable that a display can be folded out", he said.

"It nearly feels with foldable displays that technology companies are using this as something to highlight how innovative and technologically advanced they are. without really considering the nuts and bolts that would make it a commercial success", he added.

Going ahead, smartphones will play an even bigger role as they get smarter thanks to artificial intelligence.

If the new reports are to believed, Huawei might announce its first foldable display phone by the end of 2018, though Mr. Yu's latest comments on the matter hint towards a 2019 launch.
