Argument Over Aretha Franklin Leads to Virginia Shooting, Witnesses Say

A Guy Got Shot Arguing About Halle Berry Playing Aretha Franklin in a Movie

A man shot a pal after an argument about whether Halle Berry should play Aretha Franklin in a movie about the late singer's life, police say.

Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim Thursday morning around 10:45 a.m.

Michael Jermell Hatton, 44, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, as well as other charges in connection to shooting Tony Jonathan Lundy, 47, in Suffolk on Thursday, August 16, 2018.

Michael Hatton, 44, is said to have blasted Tony Lundy, 47, after a row erupted in a barbershop in Suffolk, Va., leaving him in a critical condition.

The men apparently were debating casting choices for a movie based off Franklin's memoir "Aretha: From These Roots".

Trump also lashed out at Mueller, saying former FBI Director James Comey was the special counsel's "best friend". If anything, I'm giving him a bigger voice". "I think that whole - I call it the rigged witch hunt - is a sham".

As for the premise of the freakish encounter, Franklin did previously say she dreamed of Berry playing her on film, but the Oscar victor declined, saying she'd only consider the role if she could carry a tune (which she apparently can't).

'That's when I asked the question, "How is Aretha doing?", And they said she died five minutes ago'. If I could carry a tune, I'd consider it. "Someone should tell Aretha that I can't do her justice".

Now, we know Halle Berry has played some roles y'all didn't want her in, and some are still hurt about what they think to be a lackluster portrayal of Catwoman on Berry's part.

"[Halle Berry] was my first choice", Franklin wrote in a telegram to The Wendy Williams Show. "E$3 verything's subject to negotiation, and she shouldn't underestimate her own talent". I never expected Halle to sing. She's an actress, not a singer.

Singer Jennifer Hudson has since emerged as favorite to play the Franklin, who was famously known as the Queen of Soul. The Queen of Soul had been suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer.
