Idris Elba as James Bond is a rumour that's been around for years, nearly as long as that one about Quentin Tarantino directing a "Star Trek" movie.

The actor posted a filtered selfie - only featuring the top part of his face - with the words "my name's Elba, Idris Elba".

"My name's Elba, Idris Elba", he tweeted, echoing the super spy's famous catchline, "The name is Bond, James Bond".

The tweet was retweeted and liked thousands of times with an hour of posting with fans hoping this could finally be the Bond news they've been waiting for.
