Dave Grohl Unleashes 'PLAY' Documentary Featuring Epic 23-Minute, 7-Instrument Song

PLAY is a two part mini-documentary directed by the Foo Fighters frontman, which celebrates "the rewards and challenges of dedicating one's life to playing music". The two-part project opens with a behind-the-scenes explanation of the monstrous musical task, followed by the second part - the 23-minute performance. "The entire song was played by Grohl, each time on a different instrument, live for 23 minutes", a press release previously explained. Via an interactive video posted on Grohl's Roswell Films website, viewers can isolate each instrument - we recommend the drum track, because although Grohl has many talents, he remains one of the greatest drummers in rock history.

In addition to interviews with music student, the video includes a 23-minute track the musician wrote and recorded by himself.

Death toll after Lombok natural disaster rises to 259
Aid agencies say the number is likely to increase dramatically as they gain access to the worst-hit parts of the island. Since the 6.9 quake on Sunday, at least 340 aftershocks have been felt across the island including in neighbouring Bali.

The Foo Fighters frontman goes the extra mile for his new project entitled "Play". And even now, as a 49-year-old man, I'm still trying to figure it out... it's not something that you ever truly master. The self-directed film, shot by Brandon Trost (The Disaster Artist, This Is the End), also highlights the importance of music education through the story of Join the Band, a California center where young, aspiring musicians hone their craft. It is presented as an online interactive experience where fans are given the options of watching the mini-doc and Grohl's performance as is; focusing on one particular instrument; and/or downloading the corresponding sheet music.

Also up for grabs are the music sheets, the input lists, and (if you're feeling really geeky) a floor plan of the live room Grohl played in. Pre-orders are ongoing.
