Elmarie Wendel From "3rd Rock From The Sun" Passes Away At 89

Elmarie Wendel, best known to TV audiences for her role as 3rd Rock From the Sun landlady Mrs. Dubcek, has died at the age of 89, TMZ reports.

On the '90s sitcom, Wendel's character was known for her delightfully gaudy attire and oversexed one-liners.

JC, who is also an actress, paid tribute to her mother, calling her "a great mom and a bada** dame".

Elmaire soon nabbed the iconic role of Mrs Dubcek on 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Although Wendel found stardom in '90s, she had been acting since 1961.

Elmarie's daughter JC Wendel - born Jennifer - confirmed the tragic news on Instagram, but did not announce the cause of death.

Throughout her career, which began in the 1960s, Wendel also appeared on numerous other shows, including: Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, Knight Rider, General Hospital, The Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, Murphy Brown, The Angry Beavers and more.

She then crossed over into TV and film, before winning the role of eccentric landlady Mamie Dubcek in 3rd Rock. In recent years, she's fielded some voice roles, notably in Illumination Entertainment's 2012 adaptation of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax and, in her final performance, in Bethesda Game Studios' 2015 video game, Fallout 4.

Jim Beaver, Supernatural favorite and veteran of Timeless and Breaking Bad, a longtime friend of Wendel, took to Twitter to mourn her passing.

"She was raucous, funny, endearing, and terribly, terribly sweet", he wrote.

The core members of the 3rd Rock From the Sun cast, including John Lithgow and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, have yet to comment on Wendell's passing.
