Oswestry hero receives Queen's Gallantry Award for beach rescue

Heroes of the London Bridge terror attack, including two who died, have been recognised for their bravery.

Mr Echeverria is amongst the three police officers and five members of the public who confronted the attackers or aided others, and are included on this year's Civilian Gallantry List.

Others recognised in the 20-strong list include Hassan Zubier, who said he was "extremely honoured" to be awarded the George Medal after being injured while trying to help victims during a deadly knife attack in Finland past year.

Ms Boden - who was among eight people killed by terrorists Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba - died as she tried to help victims on London Bridge.

28-year-old Boden was dubbed "the angel of London Bridge" by British media, for her heroic actions during the attack.

He is posthumously awarded the George Medal for confronting armed terrorists to protect others.

"Ms Boden showed courage and compassion, putting the lives of others before hers during a terrifying and tragic event".

Her family said they felt "very proud" of her being awarded the Queen's Commendation for Bravery.

The George Medal is the second highest civilian honour available, and was also awarded to two police officers who were stabbed during the attack.

The committee said: "Both men demonstrated unselfish courage".
