U.S., Russian Federation will ‘work jointly’ to ensure Israel’s security

Top Senate Dem Trump administration's lack of focus on election security an 'embarrassment'

After face-to-face talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr Trump contradicted U.S. intelligence agencies and said there had been no reason for Russia to meddle in the vote.

Their opening session had been scheduled to run 90 minutes.

Before the presidents sat down for the luncheon, they posed for a photo with Trump's wife, U.S. first lady Melania Trump.

Yet after the bad-tempered North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit and Trump´s trip to Britain, anxious European leaders will have been relieved if not much came out of the Helsinki meeting.

US President Donald Trump said he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a "good start" to their high-stakes summit in Finland. I have President Putin. "Russia and the United States will work jointly (in this regard)".

The president pointed out Putin denied the charge.

Trump complained: "No matter how well I do at the Summit", he'll face "criticism that it wasn't good enough".

Abortion-rights activists dressed as heavily pregnant Donald Trumps demonstrated on the streets of Helsinki, just a stone's throw away from where the U.S. and Russian presidents met.

Trump said that he "brought up" allegations of election-meddling with Putin, and said that Putin "may well want to address it", but did not elaborate further on the subject. "But I certainly, I'll be asking about it". He claimed Mr Obama "was informed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Russian Meddling, he said it couldn't happen, was no big deal, & did NOTHING about it". "But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake", McCain said in a statement.

He again stated that there was "no collusion" between his campaign and the Russians.

Mr Trump did not respond; Mr Putin appeared to smirk. Why was the Federal Bureau of Investigation told to leave the office of the Democratic National Committee?

"Sue the European Union" - Donald Trump's advice to Theresa May
In an interview with The Sun , Donald Trump said he would have negotiated "very differently" if he was in Theresa May's position. The two men have met twice before at other events and spoken by phone at least eight times.

Strzok Interview Was a 'Disgrace to Our Country'
The president said the Russian Federation probe could potentially impact the U.S.' relationships with other countries as well, calling into question what he characterized as the politicization of the overall investigation.

Trump said they also wanted to help the Syrian people on a humanitarian basis. That includes Russia's military incursions into Ukraine and Syria, the Iranian presence in Syria, Russian hostility toward US allies, and renewing worldwide arms control treaties.

In a weekend interview with CBS News, Trump admitted that Russian Federation remains a foe, but he put Moscow on a par with China and the European Union as economic and diplomatic rivals. "We have not been getting along well for the last number of years", Trump added.

But the indictments risk overshadowing the talks.

He also asked what happened to the emails from Clinton's home-brewed email server that she said were personal and could not be recovered. In a second operation, the agents targeted US election infrastructure and some local election officials.

When asked directly on Monday if he held Russian Federation "accountable for anything", Trump said he held "both countries responsible", echoing language he used after hostilities broke out previous year when white nationalists rallied in Virginia.

"I don't see any reason why Russian Federation would interfere in the 2016 election", Trump told astonished reporters. "Russia and the USA are facing new and similar threats". "It is great to be with you", Trump told Putin, before shaking hands briefly and heading into talks, which are being closely watched around the world. Russian Federation was listed as a "foe in certain respects". "Seriously, what does Putin have on Trump that's he's so afraid?"

Putin, meanwhile, is stepping up efforts to broker a deal for pro-Iranian militias in Syria to withdraw from areas near the border with Israel in favor of government troops.

But this does not mean it was a mistake for Trump to meet with Putin in the first place, or that the theory-promoted just days ago by NY magazine's Jonathan Chait-that Trump is some sort of Russian agent (and has been since 1987!) holds water. "It's very important they meet".

But while Mr Putin came over as the seasoned professional, eager to present his country as an equivalent to the United States in terms of being a nuclear superpower; an energy provider; and a key actor in the Middle East, Mr Trump seemed more intent on castigating his opponents back home.

Since 2008 there have been 42 such arrests, according to the Kremlin, including 11 past year. In addition, 248 Russian nationals and 442 of the country's companies are under US sanctions, the Kremlin says.
