Moto E5 Play with Android GO gets expanded release

Moto E5 Play Android Go edition announced for Europe, Latin America

Another difference between the two models is the size of the display. While the Moto E5 Play started out as a U.S. exclusive smartphone, it is now launching in European and Latin American countries, but this time it runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) instead of the full Android Oreo.

The new E5 Play will launch in Europe and Latin America sometime in July.

Motorola announced the Android Go version of the Moto E5 Play.

Android Go: What is it and which phones run it?

That compares to the regular E5 Play, which sports a 5.2-inch display with a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio and 720p resolution.

For starters, Android Go support means the new E5 Play runs a relatively clean version of Android Oreo that includes Go variants of Google apps. Under the hood, it comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Mobile Platform clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. Talking about the cameras, the device comes with an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera for selfies.

It is also noteworthy that the original Moto E5 Play had debuted with 2GB of RAM, however, since the new model of the phone is going to run Android Go, it's expected that the phone will run on 1GB of RAM, given the limit for Android Go handsets. Both have LED flash. These are the same set of cameras offered with the earlier launched Moto E5 Play. The battery on the device can be similar to the original USA model of the Moto E5 Play which packs a 2800mAh battery.

Like any modern phone, the handset will also have a fingerprint reader that is located inside the recessed Motorola logo on the rear. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
