Jaguar escapes from New Orleans zoo, kills 6 animals
The Audubon Zoo in New Orleans said it would be closed Saturday after an adult jaguar escaped its enclosure and killed several animals.
Fortunately, there were no human injuries reported and the other piece of good news is that the Audubon Zoo had not yet opened for the day.
Zoo officials said Valero, a 3-year-old male jaguar, escaped his habitat and was spotted by zoo personnel around 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, according to The Times-Picayune.

'Explosive device' thrown at Gerry Adams' home
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said officers were "dealing with two incidents at two separate addresses in west Belfast". No one hurt. "Thanks 2 all the great neighbours, the Neighbourhood Watch & Sinn Féin reps who were here very quickly".
Kyle Burks, vice president and managing director for the zoo, said at a news conference that Valerio was sedated by a team of veterinarians and the animal was returned and secured in his area. Burks said the zoo will investigate the incident, including how the jaguar got free. He mauled four alpacas, one emu and one fox in nearby habitats before being sedated by a vet team almost an hour after his escape, the zoo said. The zoo is a safe place to be, there's no fear at all as far as the visitors.
The zoo is closed Saturday and will reopen Sunday, according to the paper.
Zoo officials said it wasn't clear how Valero managed to escape his habitat. They added that the zoo passed accreditations in April 2018, and must go through the accreditation process every five years.
