‘Willy Wonka’ star Denise Nickerson’s family raising money after actress suffers stroke

The family of actress Denise Nickerson has launched a fundraising campaign after the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory actress suffered a stroke.

A Facebook group has been started to help support Denise Nickerson, who's recovering from a stroke she suffered in late June. The page offers updates on the actress' condition and how her family is coping, as well as auctioning off autographed items belonging to Nickerson, such as photos of her playing Violet in Willy Wonka. "She's in the ICU and they don't want to leave her".

TMZ first reported that actress Denise Nickerson, 61, known for her role as Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film is now in the intensive care unit (ICU), unleashing a slew of medical costs that's forced her family to turn to crowdfunding in an effort to relieve some of the costs. Denise will be having a procedure later Wednesday. However, TMZ reports that a pacemaker was put in and she needs to be fed through a feeding tube.
