Nintendo reportedly rolling out new, more hack-resistant Switch hardware
Nintendo Switch had an incredibly successful first year on the market, but it's not without stiff competition.
The exploit allowed crackers to jailbreak the device, Ars Technica reported. The vulnerability was discovered by hacker Katherine Temkin and the hacking group ReSwitched.
Patching these hardware security flaws - particularly the "f-g" exploit - has been a long time coming for Nintendo following their exposure late previous year. However, it seems that Nintendo has only partially solved the issue with these fresh consoles.
As the ResetEra user points out, there are still almost 20 million Nintendo Switch units out there that - so long as they haven't been updated to the 5.x version of the interface - can still be hacked using this flaw.

Ceramic remains and coal were also discovered in the temple, which scientists say could have been used for ritual activities. Works take place at the substructure inside the Teopanzolco pyramid in Cuernavaca, Morelos State, Mexico, on July 11.
Firefighter killed in Wisconsin blast identified
Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, identified the firefighter who was killed as Cory Barr. Jill Thompson, 56, who lives about two blocks from where the blast occurred, said, "It shook the whole building".
These boot-ROM iPatches are relatively simple for Nintendo to implement in the factory when the system is manufactured, but they are impossible to load onto the tens of millions of Switch units that had already been sold before the exploit was made public. The lower the better. Worse off is that these new units are reportedly shipping with the 4.1 version of the interface, which is still vulnerable to SciresM's own "Déjà-vú" exploit of the TrustZone hardware security technology found in many ARM-based processors, including the Nvidia Tegra chip inside the Switch.
While the hack can not be patched on existing hardware as we originally reported (with well over 15 million Tegra 210 powered Nintendo Switch consoles on the market and the release of custom firmware solutions presumably close, the homebrew scene is likely to thrive as well as piracy in all likelihood), Nintendo hasn't been sitting idle in its anti-piracy efforts.
And yes, if you have a Nintendo Switch updated to the latest firmware, you've been locked out of using fusee gelee so if you want to use homebrew apps don't update.
The newly protected Switch hardware is reportedly loaded with firmware version 4.1.0, which has been outdated since the release of version 5.0.0 in March.
