Andriy Yarmolenko leaves Borussia Dortmund to join West Ham United

Andrey Yarmolenko of Borussia Dortmund and Jan Vertonghen of Tottenham Hotspur battle for possession during the UEFA Champions League group H match between Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham

West Ham have succeeded where the likes of Liverpool, Everton and AC Milan have all failed in the past by signing the elusive Andriy Yarmolenko.

The 28-year-old is still capable of producing moments of brilliance, as he showed with his six goals and six assists in all competitions last season. Borussia Dortmund signed Yarmolenko for roughly the same fee less than an year ago, so to break even despite his disappointing season is a good deal for the club.

Yarmolenko, who spent the majority of his career at Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev, said he is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Premier League.

As for arrivals, Achraf Hakimi is set to join on a two year loan deal.

And he was clearly delighted to wrap up the move, saying: "Of course, I am very happy to sign for West Ham United".

"West Ham is a big club with good fans and I am happy to come to play in the Premier League", said Yarmolenko.

West Ham remain in advanced talks with Lazio over the signing of midfielder Felipe Anderson and defender Fabian Balbuena from Corinthians.

Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianksi and Jack Wilshere have already arrived at the London Stadium in recent weeks.

While there was initial confusion over whether the club would try to sign both players, they are pressing ahead with negotiations, and there is hope at the club that Yarmolenko and Anderson will be able to feature in the same team.
