Southampton Close In On Leeds United Target Angus Gunn

Angus Gunn featured in every single Championship game for Norwich City in the 17/18 season

Southampton are closing in on deals for Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn and Borussia Monchengladbach defender Jannik Vestergaard, Press Association Sport understands.

It now seems that St. Mary's Park is his destination, with a host of clubs having already been swirling around.

Gunn, who graduated from Man City's academy, spent last season on loan at hometown club Norwich playing in the Championship.

Part of the Denmark squad that reached the last-16 in Russian Federation, the 25-year-old would appear a timely addition to a side yet to bring in a defender since Virgil van Dijk's world-record move to Liverpool.

McCarthy finished the season as first-choice goalkeeper, with Forster's last game the 5-2 Premier League defeat by Tottenham at Wembley on Boxing Day.

Gunn has represented England at various levels from Under-16s to Under-21s, winning 11 caps with the latter.

Gunn will leave Manchester City with Ederson, Claudio Bravo, Daniel Grimshaw as the remaining first-team goalkeepers for the blue side of Manchester.
