Deadly bacteria fears: Supermarkets recall frozen vegetables
Woolworths, IGA, ALDI, Campbells and other independent grocery stores have been instructed by Food Standards Australia New Zealand to pull varieties of frozen vegetables from their shelves for fear they could be contaminated by listeria.
The specific packets that are of risk of listeria contamination include mixed carrot, corn, broccoli, peas packets stocked under three brands: Black & Gold, Market Fare and Bell Farms.
This brings the total of products potentially affected by the deadly bacteria to 45.
Around 50 products have been withdrawn from sale by Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd as a precaution, amid fears they may contain listeria monocytogenes which can cause sickness and diarrhoea.
A statement issued by the company last Wednesday said it had chosen to recall products from the plant in response to a decision by Hungary's Food Safety Agency.
