Coast Guard searching for cruise ship crew member reported overboard near Cuba

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a Norwegian Cruise Line crew member that went overboard near Cuba. It is now unknown at this time what caused the crew member to go overboard. Officials said the crew member jumped off the Norwegian Getaway about 28 miles northwest of Pinar del Río. The large cruise ship is staffed with more than 1,500 crew members and can accommodate almost 4,000 guests.

An HC-144 Ocean Sentry plane out of Miami began searching about 10 minutes later. Its itinerary had stops in Honduras, Belize and Mexico. The ship left Cozumel yesterday evening and was expected to return to Miami early tomorrow morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with this crew member.
