Trump orders halt to family separations

Immigration advocates and legal experts say there is no clear system in place to reunite families who've been separated by&nb

Immigrant advocates who have been calling for an end to the forced separation of children from their parents are gearing for additional battles.

Trump said Wednesday he didn't like seeing children being removed from their families, a recent practice that has sparked worldwide outrage.

Trump also said that first lady Melania Trump visited detention centers at the border today because 'it really bothered her to be looking at this and seeing it'.

It would also provide $25 billion in funding for Trump's much-promised border wall, change the existing visa lottery into a merit-based system and provide a path to citizenship for the young undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children.

Immigrant children walk in a line outside the Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children, a former Job Corps site that now houses them, on June 20, 2018, in Homestead, Florida.

What does the executive order mean for the plans of House Republicans to pass their own legislation to address the crisis?

The plaintiffs argue that border agents and detention officials "sadistically tease and taunt parents and children with the prospect of separation, and doing so using words and tones indicating that Defendants' employees and agents enjoy the pain and suffering that the very idea of separation causes to parents and children".

"This is a stopgap measure", said Gene Hamilton, counsel to the U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Boyfriends pays tribute as Love Island star dies aged 32
Very shocking and sad news this morning as it has emerged that " Love Island " star Sophie Gradon has died aged 32-years-old. You were such an intricate, creative, intelligent soul. "I'm so lucky to have met you". "You helped us through so much".

It was not immediately clear what Trump, who had previously blamed the family separations on Democrats, would sign.

In a televised roundtable with members of Congress, Senators and members of his adminstration, Trump announced: "we're going to be signing an executive order. we're going to keep families together, but we still have to maintain toughness or our country is going to be overrun". One official said it was the Justice Department that generated the legal strategy that is codified in the working executive order, and disputed the notion that Homeland Security was involved in drawing up the document. However, he added, there will be an "implementation phase that follows".

Privately, officials in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) believe there is not enough capacity to hold families together because its facilities are already full. But for extended detentions to keep families together beyond that timeframe it is "critically important" for Judge Dolly Gee of the U.S. District Court of Central California to make a ruling, according to Hamilton.

U.S. President Donald Trump is misrepresenting the scope of his executive order that would halt his administration's policy of separating children from their parents when they are detained illegally crossing the U.S. border. "We also don't want families who are fleeing for their lives to be sent back into the burning house that they've escaped from, and we also don't want America to be a place where you can't get a fair shot in a life-and-death decision".

Hundreds of immigrant parents like Morales are crossing into the US without proper authorization unaware that the process to seek asylum now also includes temporary loss of their children.

Trump campaigned on stopping illegal immigration and has fiercely defended his administration's actions.

"The U.S. authorities create different files for the children than for the parents, and it's very hard to follow up on those cases", Torres said.
