Next-Gen Xbox Avatars Are Here for Insiders

Alpha and Skip Ahead Xbox Insiders will finally get the new Xbox Avatar editor on June 19

Microsoft has announced that Xbox Insiders will get to preview the new Avatar Editor app from today after the major update was first revealed a year ago. Well, at least for some.

The new Avatar Editor app will be available sometime today to Insiders part of the Alpha and Skip Ahead rings.

The full range of props, moods, clothing, and appearance categories isn't available yet; Microsoft says that more will be added both during the beta period and subsequently once the new avatar system is launched to all.

Meghan Markle's Dad Dishes on Conversation With Prince Harry About Trump
The boyfriend: "The first phone call was, "Daddy I have a new boyfriend", and I was like, "That's really nice". I realize it was a serious mistake, but it's hard to take it back.

"The new Xbox Avatars are built from the ground up in to enable an unprecedented amount of inclusive customization options, and we will continue to grow these selections over time". Each feature can be customised with over 16 million colour options - this includes skin tone, hair, wearables, and props. Most closet items also support multiple custom colors, so the number of possible color combinations for a single item can go from trillions all the way up to nearly eighty octillion- that's an eight followed by 28 zeroes!

In case you don't like the choices offered by the new avatars and would prefer to keep your original Xbox avatar, you can do so. It's also possible to delve into an extensive color selector to make sure you get the exact shades you're looking for. The goal of the new system is to make the avatars much more representative, showcasing not just our style and tastes, but also our body types, disabilities, and genders. The Photobooth feature is where you'll be able to take a photo of your avatar while using a variety of emotes, each of which can be paused and advanced frame-by-frame to find the flawless picture.

Currently, the new avatars are only used in the new avatar editor.
