Nebraska couple charged with brutally murdering, dismembering Tinder date

Sydney Loofe

The two appeared in Saline County court Tuesday, where Trail said he planned on representing himself and Boswell asked for an attorney.

During Trail and Boswell's first court appearance, however, more information regarding Loofe's murder was given, including that she had been strangled with an extension cord and her body had been dismembered and found in several places.

Bailey Boswell and her male roommate Aubrey Trial were filmed on CCTV at a Lincoln Home Depot in the hours before the young women's Tinder date, on November 15 past year.

Her alleged killers were soon tracked down in Branson, Mo., with Trail claiming he had strangled Loofe with an extension cord after his threeway fantasy went wrong.

Her body was discovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on December 5, and meanwhile Boswell and Trail are accused of handling stolen goods.

Boswell and Trail were quickly considered suspects in the case, and were in arrested in Missouri in November on unrelated charges.

They have been held in the Saline County jail since then, though the charges in Loofe's death weren't announced until Monday.

Authorities haven't suggested a motive for the killing.

If convicted, both Trail and Boswell could potentially face the death penalty, with prosecutors stating that it is now being considered.

Boswell initially claimed she dropped Loofe "at a friend's house" after they went out.

Trail and Boswell reportedly gave their side of the story in a now-deleted video that was posted to "Finding Sydney", a Facebook page Loofe's family created to collect tips pertaining to the missing 24-year-old.

'She was looking for that one special person with whom she could spend time. Nine days later, on February 6, he called the same reporter and told him how Loofe died: "It was suffocation", he said.

Trail told the outlet that Loofe was accidentally suffocated during the sex act.

'It was suffocation. It happened in Saline County, ' he said.

Trail and Boswell had recently moved to an apartment in Wilber, where they dealt antiques and rare coins, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

'It wasn't meant that she was to die'.

"A life for a life - that's the rules in my world", he said. I should be put to death, ' he told Omaha World-Herald. Loofe was found dead in December near Edgar, south-west of Omaha, about a month after she disappeared.

Loofe had told her co-worker Terra Gehring how excited she was - but the next morning, Loofe didn't show up at work. While in school, she played basketball, volleyball and golf. She didn't come home either, so her mother reported her missing to the Lincoln Police Department.
