NASCAR penalizes Joe Gibbs Racing teams for MI infraction

NASCAR fined the crew chiefs for the Joe Gibbs Racing teams of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones $25,000 each and suspended their vehicle chiefs each one race. There was no immediate indication on whether Joe Gibbs Racing officials planned to appeal.

Additionally, the vehicle chiefs from each team - Jason Overstreet of the No. 20, Nate Bellows of the No. 18, and Brandon Griffeth of the No. 11 - have been suspended from the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.

Busch finished fourth at Michigan International Speedway while Hamlin came in 12th and Jones in 15th after they were forced to the back.
