MTV is making a live-action ‘Aeon Flux’ reboot

Jeff Davis (Teen Wolf) is the showrunner and is set to write the script and executive produce alongside Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead). He also created and executive produces drama series Criminal Minds, which was recently renewed for its 14th season on CBS. Chung's distorted figures performing acrobatic stunts in skimpy leather outfits, freaky futuristic architecture, zero dialogue, and ending every short by killing the protagonist in some brutal way, was unlike anything that was on the air before or largely since, and, after Charlize Theron and director Karyn Kusama tried to make it a film franchise in 2005, the cartoon is coming back to live action.

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that MTV is revisiting their Aeon Flux property and is going forward in rebooting the property into a live-action series. The series grew a cult following, and returned to TV a year later with five short-form episodes and again in 1995 as a 10-episode half-hour animated series.

That said, it's very much of its time, and it'll be a challenge to reboot this in a way that's faithful to Chung's original approach.

Why Alicia Silverstone's Son Tried to Make Out With Her
Unfortunately, her son wound up emulating some of the more adult behavior he saw onscreen. That's what I did. "It is super sweet", a dubious Colbert said.

In 2005, Paramount Pictures, Lakeshore Entertainment, and Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures banner teamed for an Aeon Flux feature film. Charlize Theron starred as the titular character, alongside Frances McDormand. But after the critical and commercial disappointment of the big-screen Aeon Flux, MTV is having another go at it - this time, on its home turf. The film grossed $52.3 million globally, falling short of its $62 million production budget. Adding insult to injury, the movie was panned by both critics and audiences, earning an abysmal nine percent score from its reviews, and a mere 39 rating from movie-goers.

Hopefully, this new series can match reverse that negative reaction.

Though a genre series itself, Aeon Flux is quite a different beast that Davis' Teen Wolf, though the latter has given Davis plenty of experience balancing action, humor, and heart, as well as stitching together a realistic albeit supernatural world.
