Canada parliament condemns Trump's attacks on Trudeau and tariffs

Trump Adviser Apologizes For Saying Trudeau 'Deserved Special Place In Hell'

U.S. President Donald Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro expressed regret Tuesday for having said there is "a special place in hell" for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Addressing the feud between his administration and Canada, Trump said at a news conference Tuesday in Singapore that Trudeau had "learned" his lesson.

Bilous said the trade tussle brings home to many the need for Canada and Alberta to increase trade with other markets, especially in Asia.

Having left the G-7 summit in Canada early, Mr Trump's announcement that he was backing out of the joint communique torpedoed an already-fragile consensus on the trade dispute between Washington and its top allies.

But Mr Trudeau's comments provoked a response from the U.S. president.

He has one Uruguay cap and was included in Óscar Tabárez's World Cup squad for the tournament in Russian Federation this summer. He has become a key player at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and is ranked among the best defensive midfielders in Serie A.

According to Trump's account of the moment, G7 attendees were content following the conclusion of the meetings until Trudeau took his stand.

"I want to pay a particular tribute to Prime Minister Trudeau for his leadership and skilful chairing, which enabled us after two days of negotiation between leaders to agree actions and a shared approach on some of the most pressing challenges facing the worldwide community and our citizens", she said. "I had a very good meeting with the G-7". I think he should apologize to the prime minister. "I know it was reported sort of nasty both ways - I was angry at her, or she. But actually, we were just talking, the whole group, about something unrelated to everything, very friendly". Navarro's comments came after Trudeau said Canada would push back on tariffs that Trump plans to impose on Canadian steel and aluminum. "He'll learn, he can't do that", Trump said.

Now that the Singapore summit has concluded, perhaps the White House will walk back most of the venom aimed at Trudeau.

"The president, coming late, stands before the cameras and says, "Why don't we add Russian Federation to the group". "Not fair to the people of America! $800 billion trade deficit", he said. He called on Trudeau to apologise to Trump. According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the USA had an $8.4 billion trade surplus with Canada, but a $17.5 billion trade deficit if services were excluded.

And it concludes with a direct shot at Trump, calling on the House to "reject disparaging and ad hominem statements by US officials which do a disservice to bilateral relations and work against efforts to resolve this trade dispute".
