Starbucks to close Canadian stores Monday afternoon for inclusiveness training

Canadians will have to go elsewhere for the caffeine fix on Monday afternoon.

The move comes after a manager in a Philadelphia branch of the chain called police to arrest two black men who were sitting in the store as they waited for a third person to arrive.

Back on May 29, The Seattle-based company ordered more than 8,000 U.S. Starbucks stores closed on the afternoon of May 29 so that almost 175,000 employees can receive training on unconscious bias.

Starbucks has over 1,200 company-operated and licensed locations in Canada and employs more than 14,000 full- and part-time staff.
