'Fair trade, fool trade', Trump's tweets spew ire on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, Trudeau

US President Donald Trump accuses India of charging 100 per cent tariff on some imports

Justin Trudeau and President Trump participate in the working session at the G7 summit on Friday.

President Donald Trump accused Prime Minister Trudeau of acting "meek and mild" during meetings at the G7 Summit, only to attack the United States at a news conference.

Music critic David Wild reacted to the conflict on Sunday by encouraging others to consider what Canada has given its USA neighbours.

"Don't blame Trump. It was Trudeau who started blasting Trump after he left, after the deals had been made".

After a rocky G7 summit, Freeland had a lengthy conversation with U.S. Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer Sunday evening, but the series of tweets were not on the agenda, according to a senior government official. So it is even more unusual.

While Trump also presented the idea that the member countries should drop off tariffs and trade barriers, he also reportedly complained to the other leaders about their trade policies and said the USA would continue with tariffs absent concessions.

Trudeau had told reporters that Trump's decision to invoke national security to justify United States tariffs on steel and aluminum imports was "kind of insulting" to Canadian veterans who had stood by their USA allies in conflicts dating back to World War I. 'As Canadians, we are polite, we're reasonable, but also we will not be pushed around, ' he said.

His tweet, shortly after leaving Charlevoix in Quebec, came in response to what he claimed were "false statements" by the summit host, Canadian premier Justin Trudeau.

It was left to Trump's aides to figure out how to explain Trump's airing of grievances against trading partners instead of focusing on his coming talks with Kim, which the president's supporters hope will provide him with a major foreign policy win.

The guns, which are more of a blowtorch than an actual flamethrower, are receiving some criticism for being unsafe . The electric sled would allow for cars to be transported at 150 miles per hour through the tunnel, Musk has said.

Larry Kudlow, the White House economic adviser, also characterized Trudeau's remarks as a "betrayal".

White House spokesman Raj Shah said Trump was "rattling the cages right now on trade", insisting there was no reason to believe there would be any negative fallout for the North Korea summit.

It was all smiles during a photo opportunity at the G7 Summit.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a television interview on Sunday that the summit is a "sobering" and "depressing" experience with an outcome that "wasn't a great thing".

Trump's decision to withdraw his support for the communique has drawn sharp criticism from European countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron said worldwide co-operation could not be "dictated by fits of anger and throwaway remarks".

But Trump's headlines weren't about his first time here, it was about his parting words. Trudeau stuck our president in the back. "I don't understand the obsession with trade relations with Canada", he said on Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures", given that Canada is the biggest single buyer of American goods and services in the world.

Others noted moments in history where the Canada-U.S. relationship was at its strongest, including when officials helped Americans escape during the Iran hostage crisis, or when planes were diverted to Gander, N.L., after U.S. air space was closed in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
