OnePlus OxygenOS Open Beta update out for OnePlus 5 and 5T

Hands-on review One Plus 6

The worldwide variant of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T already received the Android 8.1 Oreo update last month. Note that OnePlus has released this update to beta users first and it will take some time before it becomes publicly available for all. Other enhancements coming with this particular update include added group MMS support. The former is receiving OxygenOS Open Beta 10, while the latter gets bumped to OxygenOS Open Beta 8. Despite being different version numbers, the update is the same for both phones. The fix is live now in the latest open betas for the devices, which means it will likely roll out in a stable release very soon.

This will give current OnePlus device owners the ability to use Android Messages without having to deal with an individual thread for every group MMS. The new update also brings some new features to all the four devices mentioned above.

As for user-facing changes, there's a handful of goodies to find with the OnePlus Launcher, including a new Toolbox Card in the Shelf, a section in the app drawer called Hidden Space, as well as support for editing dynamic app icons (such as the weather, clock, and calendar). For people who don't know what a OnePlus switch is, it is basically a feature found on all OnePlus phones, which basically makes it easy for users to switch from their current phone to a OnePlus device. The e-tailer is also providing some launch offers with the OnePlus 6. If you intend to update your compatible OnePlus device now, you can head over to the download page of Oxygen OS open beta and follow the instructions carefully.
