In mid-April, a winter weather alert is issued for Upstate NY

Environment Canada is predicting freezing rain and ... wait for it ... an ice storm this weekend.

Though it seems just another disappointingly dreary day in Jackson, a winter weather advisory took effect Saturday afternoon and remains so until noon Sunday, April 15. "That colder air is on the move south and will be here in a matter of hours".

The latest, local NWS forecast calls for rain, freezing rain and sleet Saturday night and into Sunday morning, followed by rain after about 11 a.m.

Total ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are expected, which will create hard driving conditions.
