Hearing related to Federal Bureau of Investigation raid at Cohen's office, home set for Friday
Daniels' lawyer, Michael Avenatti, is pleased with the feds' raid of Cohen's apartment. He added that the raid "resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his clients".
People familiar with the federal investigation have told The Associated Press the search warrant used in the raids sought, among other things, information on payments made to Clifford.
McDougal has said she carried on an affair with Trump in 2006 after the birth of his son.
U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood in Manhattan ordered Cohen to appear in court on Monday afternoon, after holding three hearings on Friday into his request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) blocking prosecutors from reviewing seized materials. The hearing was set for Monday afternoon.
In Friday's filing, prosecutors accused Cohen's lawyers of making the "unprecedented" claim that they should decide which documents are privileged, or else leave the decision to a court-appointed special master.
Asked if he was anxious, Cohen said: "I would be lying to you if I told that I am not". Cohen is also under investigation for bank fraud and wire fraud.
In other words, the Federal Bureau of Investigation wouldn't have executed the search warrant at Trump's lawyer's office unless they had good reason and probable cause of criminality, said former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti.
In the filing with a court in NY, prosecutors blacked out a section describing what crime they believe Trump attorney Michael Cohen has committed. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the confidential details.

They said agents had already searched multiple email accounts maintained by Cohen.
Public corruption prosecutors in the US attorney's office in Manhattan are trying to determine if there was any fraud related to the payments to Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels, according to one of the people.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents raided Cohen's home and hotel room in search of communications between the lawyer and the president involving porn star Stormy Daniels and ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal, who both received payments after sexual encounters with Trump. Anything seized in the raid would first be reviewed by an independent team that would ensure the material was not covered by attorney-client privilege or outside the scope of the warrant.
Lawyers for President Donald Trump and his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, have told a federal judge in NY that they believe some of the documents and devices seized from Cohen during an FBI raid are protected by attorney-client privilege, and they want a chance to review the material before prosecutors get to examine them.
President Donald Trump's personal attorney is trying to prevent the government from using materials it found in a search of his office and residence this week.
It is unknown if Cohen recorded conversations between himself and Trump, the newspaper said.
Cohen has acknowledged that he paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her promise not to talk publicly about an affair she said she had with Trump.
Trump reacted to the raid of Michael Cohen by calling it a "witch hunt" and "an attack to our country". That suggests Mueller's team uncovered evidence of something criminal but tangential to their mandate of investigating Russian interference, lawyers say.
