The singer, who shot into fame with his song "Gaal Nahin Kadhnai', was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali. A bullet hit his leg", said Kuldeep Chahal, senior superintendent of Police, Mohali, told NDTV, a television news channel.

Dhahan had uploaded a status on his Facebook account with a picture of himself holding a pistol with Verma's picture with a cross drawn on it next to it.

He wrote, "Mein dilpreet singh dhahan sariya nu dasna chaunda k ajj parmish verma de goliya bazian apa mariya". Dilpreet is accused in another murder in Chandigarh where he along with two other people had shot and killed a sarpanch of a village in April previous year in sector 38 in broad daylight.

The incident took place at around 12.30 am, according to the police official.
