Premier League votes against using VAR next season

Premier League clubs vote against use of VAR for 2018-19

Premier League clubs have voted against the use of video assistant referee (VAR) system for next season.

The system, which is being trialled in this season's FA Cup, will be further tested and used in cup competitions during the 2018/19 campaign.

Clubs also want improvement to communication inside the stadium and for TV viewers.

VAR's trial in English domestic cup matches has so far received mixed reviews, with fans complaining that they were being left in the dark when decisions were made.

'The clubs agreed that advanced testing on the use of the video technology will continue to the end of 2018-19.

United and Chelsea could not be reached for comment on their position on VAR following a discussion and debate on a number of options at Friday's quarterly shareholders meeting of Premier League clubs, at which support for each was assessed via a show of hands.

The Oklahoma Teachers Strike Has Ended
Although lawmakers passed some bills teachers lobbied for last week, lawmakers still refused to meet all of teacher's demands. Priest touted what teachers have accomplished so far by walking out. "The truth is I'm an idiot and wanted to befriend them".

Already World soccer ruling body Federation Internationale de Football Association has hinted that the device will be in use at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who experienced VAR during an FA Cup game with West Bromwich Albion, agreed improvement was needed before VAR could be used in the Premier League.

"The only experience I had was the West Brom game and it was very interesting". It's not flawless at the moment.

A Premier League release notes that England's top flight will be aggregating data and expertise from all the leagues now using VAR in their competitions before adopting a system of its own.

"The clubs recognised and are grateful for the substantial developments made by PGMOL [Professional Game Match Officials Limited] managing director Mike Riley and his team. I prefer the referee's decision is final".

Premier League club bosses also want to explore more use of big screens to inform the crowds and getting messages that VAR is being used on PA tannoys.
