Nikki Haley accuses Russian Federation of allowing chemical weapons use in Syria

U.S. Ambassaodr to the U.N. Nikki Haley addresses a meeting of the U.N. Security Council

US Ambassador Nikki Haley said on Friday there should be no rush to launch military action on Syria, but that "at one point you have to do something".

Haley told reporters on her way into the council session that she would be returning to Washington on Friday for more meetings on a potential response. That was four days ago.

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley ripped Russian Federation a new one Friday over their continued defense of Syria dictator Bashar al-Assad in face of a reported chemical weapons attack on civilians.

Haley, who was called on to present her statement following Nebenzia, responded by calling Russian support for Assad and its failure to keep a promise to rid Syria of chemical weapons "one of the most blatant and grotesque violations of worldwide law in the world today". "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place", he tweeted.

"What we should discuss today", she added, "is the use of deadly chemical weapons to murder innocent Syrian civilians".

Russia's foreign minister claimed the suspected attack was staged by a country with an anti-Russia agenda.

Nikki Haley spoke to reporters on Friday ahead of a UN Security Council meeting on Syria.

Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia even blamed the United Kingdom for carrying out last week's chemical attack, a comment that rendered Haley almost speechless.
