Government knows DNC hacker was Russian intel officer

Hacking Guccifer 2.0 FBI Robert Mueller President Election 2016

USA investigators used that IP address to connect Guccifer to a Russian foreign military intelligence agency known as GRU, according to the Daily Beast's sources.

The linking of Guccifer 2.0 to Russian Federation with greater certainty will inevitably lead to further questions about Putin's role in Trump's election as president.

Like Guccifer 2.0, the self-proclaimed hacker apparently responsible for burrowing into the Democratic National Committee computer network, then sending stolen emails to WikiLeaks.

Guccifer 2.0's name is an homage to Romanian hacker Marcel Lazăr Lehel, who entered the public eye in 2013 after several hacks against well-known figures. Working from that address, a source told the Daily Beast's Spencer Ackerman and Kevin Poulsen that analysts were able to dig deeper and associate Guccifer 2.0 with a single individual: "a GRU officer working out of the agency's headquarters on Grizodubovoy Street in Moscow", Paulson and Ackerman reported. Stone had stated that the hacker was a native of Romania and urged critics to not to link the DNC hacking to Russian Federation.

Security firms and declassified USA intelligence findings previously identified the GRU as the agency running "Fancy Bear", the ten-year-old hacking organization behind the DNC email theft, as well as breaches at NATO, Obama's White House, a French television station, the World Anti-Doping Agency, and countless NGOs, and militaries and civilian agencies in Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. Did Stone know that he was a GRU agent?

Mom arrested after video of smoking baby goes viral
The Raleigh Police Department posted to Facebook Wednesday with the update and thanking the community for getting involved. The woman was charged with contributing to delinquency, two counts of child abuse, and marijuana possession.

However, an investigation by The Daily Beast claimed that Guccifer, who had always claimed to be a lone hacker from Romania, despite the scepticism of journalists who had shared web chats with him, made a schoolboy error that gave his, her or their rough identity away.

But, a slip up by a GRU official has revealed the original identity of the hacker.

The Daily Beast reports that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has brought in the FBI investigators who tracked Guccifer and has taken over the probe into the hacker. The hack exposed embarrassing details about Hillary Clinton's campaign and the DNC's inner workings. But, there was no direct accusation on Kremlin's intelligence agencies for meddling in the presidential election.

Now, in the light of the new evidence, Mueller has reportedly chose to rope in the FBI officials who cracked the Guccifer 2.0 origin to broaden the scope of the investigation. Many believe that it would even lead to the doorstep of the White House.
