South Tahoe's Anderson wins Silver medal in Big Air

In this multiple exposure image Laurie Blouin of Canada jumps during qualification for the women’s Big Air snowboard competition

Gasser, the reigning world champion, stomped the last of her three jumps, a double cork 1080 that saw the Austrian flip twice while spinning three times.

Jamie Anderson added to her medal count, wining a silver medal in Big Air with jumps that scored 90.00 and 87.25. US medal hopeful Julia Marino nailed a pair of cab double underflips.

The snowboarders gave a thumbs up to the big air facility here, saying it allowed them to land their best tricks.

Anderson had to settle for a silver medal with a total score of 177-point-25, while New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski Synnott claimed bronze with a score of 157-point-50. "If I'm being totally honest with you guys, I never really wanted big air to be in the Olympics".

"Bikini barista" describes fighting off assailant in coffeehouse attack seen on video
He took off after getting spooked by another vehicle pulling up to the stand, the News Tribune reports . The arrest was made after investigators received multiple tips identifying the suspect.

"I was kind of on board with it because I knew I'd get a lot of airline miles, so that was one good way to look at this", he said. Slopestyle has three jumps and this only has one, so I didn't really see the point in it. "Already this qualifying has made up for that".

In the final, the riders each had to land two different tricks, spinning different ways, and the total score decided the victor.

The final will include three USA riders - Anderson, Marino and Jessika Jenson. The bulk of the finalists needed 900-degree spins - the sort of tricks that often win Big Air contests - simply to advance to the medal round. "To just be a part of this final is really incredible". The lone American to miss the final was 17-year-old Hailey Langland, who landed a cab 720 on her first run but washed out on a cab 900 attempt on her second run.

The top 12 riders have advanced to the final.
