"The hypocrisy of this just kind of reaches out and grabs you by the throat", Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said of Trump blocking the memo.
"Intelligence Committee Republicans encourage the minority to accept the DOJ's recommendations and make the appropriate technical changes and redactions so that no sources and methods are disclosed and their memo can be declassified as soon as possible".
"We're not afraid of transparency", Short said on NBC's "Meet the Press".
Trump had claimed he was completely vindicated by the Republican-written congressional memo, which alleged the FBI abused its surveillance powers during an investigation of the Trump presidential election campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation.
"The President is inclined to declassify the memo", she said on ABC's "This Week", claiming that as written, it reveals intelligence sources and methods while the Republican document did not.
Having said all of this, could it simply be that the Democratic memo contains more sensitive classified information than the Nunes memo did? The president has the authority to keep such information under wraps, and exercised it only against the Democrats.
But Schiff said the warrant was obtained properly. "Republicans and Democrats on the Intelligence Committee voted UNANIMOUSLY to release this memo", Rep. Terri Sewell of Alabama, a Democratic member of the committee, wrote on Twitter. "If they really wanted to get it out, they'd be down there all day yesterday redacting it, getting it back over to the White House so that the public can know what's in it".
Trump wrote on Twitter after the release that the memo "totally vindicates" him in the ongoing investigation into his campaign's alleged links to Russian Federation.
Politico detailed the existence of the site this weekend, and when asked about the website on Saturday, Nunes chief of staff Anthony Ratekin said, "Until Politico retracts its multitude of fake stories on Congressman Nunes, we will not go on the record".
Mr. Trump claimed in a tweet on Saturday that Democrats laid a trap with their 10-page memo, deliberately adding classified material that they knew "would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency". It claims that without the Steele dossier, no surveillance warrants would have been sought. The longer he drags out his fight to block the Democratic memo, the more people will question why he is trying so hard to hide it.
The Democratic memo is expected to elaborate on these points. Democrats say the court was informed that a former British spy, Christopher Steele, who assembled the dossier, was politically motivated.
Schiff's comments come after the White House's decision last week not to publish the Democratic rebuttal document. "So we said take it back, work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, clean it up, and we'll release it".
Democrats have since expressed outrage, with Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer saying, "Millions of Americans are asking one simple question: what is he hiding?"
The campaign committee for House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes has been funding a website billed as a local news outlet. Democrats have blasted the move, accusing Trump of exhibiting a double standard in his handling of the memos.
