Trump tells Democrats to refile Russian Federation probe memo

President Trump reportedly expected to declassify Democratic rebuttal of controversial GOP memo

Last week, the president approved declassification of the Republican memo compiled by Rep. Devin Nunes, California Republican and chairman of the intelligence committee, saying the four-page document did not present any national security concerns, despite Democrats' insistence to the contrary.

Democrats expressed outrage at the president's decision.

Mr. Schiff said the Trump administration's hypocrisy "just kind of reaches out and grabs you by the throat".

But are the Democrats right?

While the Nunes memo is 4 pages long, people who have read it told NPR's Philip Ewing that the Schiff memo is 10 pages and contains many footnotes meant to rebut arguments made by the GOP document. "The meaning of the "(and more)" was not immediately clear.

President Donald Trump on Friday blocked the release of a classified memo written by congressional Democrats to rebut a Republican document that he allowed to be made public last week that claimed FBI and Justice Department bias against him in the federal probe of Russian Federation and the 2016 USA election.

Democrats also say Republicans misrepresented the words of Andrew G. McCabe, the former deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, when they said he told the committee late previous year that the agency would not have sought a wiretap of Page without Steele's dossier of information.

Even some Republicans supported the release of the Democratic memo. The Democratic memo is thought to elaborate on those points. Rosenstein is now overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into whether there was any connection between Russians and Trump associates during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The rebuttal was the latest Democratic volley against a Republican assault on the legitimacy of the government's Russian Federation investigation.

Kim Jong Un invited South Korean president to North Korea, Seoul says
Last month, the North agreed with South Korea to send 22 athletes and a 230-strong cheering squad to the winter Games. He did not attend the state dinner, which was attended by Kim Jong Un's sister.

The GOP's memo was partially revised by the DOJ before being sent to the president for approval.

However, the White House yesterday confirmed that President Trump will not declassify the document in its current form.

The seller also repeatedly pressed USA agents with offers of kompromat - compromising materials - on Trump, the Times said, citing US and European intelligence officials.

"If Page was using one of his standard phones, it was probably picked up", Elizabeth Goitein, a former trial attorney at the Justice Department and co-director of the Brennan Center for Justice's Liberty and National Security Program, told Politico.

The House Committee rule used to send the memo to Trump can also be used to bypass him, and appeal directly to the House of Representatives.

"If the president really believes the Nunes memo vindicates him, as he has said, what is he hiding by blocking the Schiff memo?"

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California said the move is "part of a unsafe and desperate pattern of cover-up on the part of the president".

The story - which was also reported by The Intercept, an online magazine on national security matters - paints a classic spy-versus-spy story where the US agents aren't ever certain about who they are dealing with and whether they are being played by their Russian counterparts.

The Democrats' allies in the media joined with Schumer and Pelosi in attacking the president's decision. The Huffington Post published an article with the headline, "GOP Demands Transparency With Memo Release, But Denied Democrats The Same Chance".
