Dalit Students of Law Beaten to Death in Uttar Pradesh

A 26-year-old law student died in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad on Sunday after he was attacked by a group of men with hockey sticks, broken pipes and bricks near a restaurant in the city, NDTV reported. The whole incident was recorded in the CCTV camera.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Saroj, he belonged to Dalit community and was pursuing LLB from Allahabad Degree College and lived at a rented room in Om Gayatri Nagar.

Colonelganj inspector, Awadhesh Singh said, "A restaurant owner, Amit Upadhyay informed police Saroj and his friends had come to the restaurant on Saturday night. Three people came, pushed us, abused and went to the restaurant on the first floor", Saroj's friend Prakash Singh was quoted as saying. Speaking to a leading portal senior superintendent of police Akash Kulhary said that three policemen, including the Katra police outpost in-charge were also suspended for negligence.

Based on the footage, the cops have arrested one accused.
