Rebuts Republican claims | Trump blocks Democratic memo on Russian probe

In a letter sent Friday evening to the House Intelligence Committee, White House Counsel Donald McGahn said that Trump was "inclined to declassify" the Democrats' 10-page document, but was holding back because of requested redactions from the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

WASHINGTON-President Donald Trump will not declassify a memo compiled by Democratic members of the House Intelligence Committee until it is revised to mitigate sensitive information, the White House said Friday night.

In a letter sent late Friday to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and the author of the GOP memo, White House Counsel Don McGahnwrites that "Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5th Memorandum, because the Memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time".

"Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5 Memorandum, because the memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time", McGahn said in a letter to Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House panel.

"He met with the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein within the last hour to discuss some of the differences between the two memos", White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters earlier this week.

The dispute highlights the extent to which a now-famous dossier alleging Trump has personal and financial ties to Russian officials has divided the committee, as the parties quarrel over how congressional panels and federal law enforcement agencies have handled investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 USA elections.

"The rationale for releasing the Nunes memo, transparency, vanishes when it could show information that's harmful to him", Senate Minority Leader Charles Grassley (D-N.Y.) said.

Russian Federation sending back North Korean workers
A State Department report from 2017 said some of these workers are even subjected to forced labor. These workers fill in for highly unsafe yet extremely low-paid construction jobs.

Mr Mueller is also investigating whether Mr Trump has committed obstruction of justice in trying to impede the Russian Federation probe. The President encourages the Committee to undertake these efforts.

The White House has denied it is considering terminating Rosenstein. His decision to deny the memo came just after he stated that, "it's gonna be released soon" and that he's "going to release a letter" as well.

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) called for the release of the Democrats' memo.

A source who read the FISA rebuttal memo told Fox News earlier this week that it is filled with sources and methods taken from the original documents.

Instead, it was Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos and meetings he had with agents of the Kremlin where he was offered dirt on Hillary Clinton that triggered the investigation, the Nunes memo says.

The Republican memo singled out Rosenstein and several other officials by name, including former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired in May 2017, as the agency investigated the Russian Federation matter. There was a second letter that was not publicly disclosed (no doubt due to the classified information within) detailing to the House Intelligence Committee the problems they have with releasing the memo.
