'We don't want to talk to the Taliban'

US President Donald Trump has urged all nations to fight against Taliban.

President Ghani in a joint press conference, reported by Ariana News, said that the Taliban rebels were committing violent acts to get rid of isolation.

This came after a USA drone strike in the Kurram Agency killed two people. "It is unfortunate that we are even discussing the numbers [the amount of aid] while Afghanistan slowly spirals out of the American and Afghan forces control", he added. Islamabad had already stopped sharing key intelligence with the USA in connection with Afghanistan after relations between both the countries went sour at the beginning of the current year.

On Saturday, Taliban militants detonated an explosive-laden ambulance in a busy area close to Kabul's infamous Chicken Street, killing 103 people, as confirmed by the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI).

Following that attack, Trump called for "decisive action" by all countries against the Taliban, saying in a statement that the "murderous attack renews our resolve and that of our Afghan partners".

A week earlier, the militant group stormed the iconic Intercontinental Hotel, killing more than 20 local and foreign guests.

Militants attack Kabul military base
An unknown number of militants mounted an attack on the Marshal Fahim National Defence University which lasted for almost an hour. The coordinated attack has come amid a spate of deadly terror attacks in the Afghan capital, raising grave security concerns.

A brazen suicide auto bombing Saturday claimed more than 100 lives and left more than 200 wounded. "They are killing people left and right, innocent people".

"So there's no talking to the Taliban". He also said that there was "a discussion" about taking the more drastic step of cutting off the U.S. access to land and air routes into Afghanistan - even though Pakistani officials have been hinting towards increasing the fees of transportation rather than blocking United States land/air access to Afghanistan via Pakistan.

A United States official, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed surprise at Trump's comments and said there was an understanding that defeating the Taliban was not purely a military problem.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained frosty due to the latter's constant blame on Pakistan's non-cooperation on tackling terrorism and insurgency and also sending terrorists to Afghanistan for conducting suicide attacks over the years.

There is no evidence, she said, "that suggests that the U.S. and Afghan forces can defeat the Taliban on the battlefield". He said Pakistan would look to Russian Federation and China - as well as Europe - for new military supplies, as the USA had "chosen castigation over cooperation".
