Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal forward left out of squad for Bournemouth

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez's future will be decided "in the next 48 hours" after he was left out of the team for Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, says manager Arsene Wenger.

According to a Daily Mail report, Manchester United are prepared to make Alexis Sanchez the Premier League's first £350,000-a-week player - with Jose Mourinho pledging to pay for it by sacrificing summer bids for Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale.

He said: "If he has an option now to go from Arsenal to Manchester City or Manchester United, as a footballer who wanted to win trophies and be judged on trophies, Manchester City looks like the place to go".

"Alexis would have played, but it's a hard period for him", Wenger said after the defeat at Bournemouth.

"He's always been committed until now but he could have moved yesterday, today or not". "That is why I made a decision to focus on the game. He did not refuse to play", Arsene said.

Alexis Sanchez seems ready to leave Arsenal and join Manchester in the coming days. "Look, if Alexis goes we need to replace him". But at least Arsene Wenger has assured us that the speculation will end in the next 48 hours as he was asked after today's terrible display at Bournemouth if Arsenal could carry on without Alexis. I don't know, but at the moment it's transfer period.

His loss would be a major blow for Arsenal, who face losing another big-name player to one of the Manchester clubs, with Sanchez likely to follow the path taken by Robin van Persie, who swapped the Emirates for Old Trafford in 2012.

"I didn't want to travel with him and then he goes somewhere".

Wenger lamented two costly mistakes that extended the Gunners' winless run to five games in all competitions.

Mourinho is to make a final decision on Timothy Fosu-Mensah's Manchester United future, the Daily Mirror reports, with the defender now on loan at Crystal Palace.

"We haven't created enough with the possession we had".

He added: "What we believe is there are some players in the football world, if you have the chance to sign them in January, March or July, you have to try".

Bournemouth, meanwhile, climb to 13th but remain just four points above the bottom three.

"I think we've built confidence from doing that the last few weeks".

Guardiola said City were not composed enough when Liverpool got on top in the second half, even though they came close to staging a dramatic comeback to keep their run alive. "That would be risky".
