Brazilian midfielder Kaka retires at age 35
"I am preparing to continue in football and to have a different role, but I will no longer be a professional player, an athlete", the 2007 Ballon d'Or victor told Globo television. I would like to work at a club as a manager, a sporting director or in a role that combines things on the pitch and the club.
Confirming the news in a tweet posted on Sunday, the midfielder described his career as "much more than I could ever imagine" adding that he is "ready for the next journey" as well as thanking God for his experiences. "In Jesus name. Amen", wrote Kaka.
Kaka has most recently played for Orlando City in Major League Soccer and said this campaign would be the last with the team, though he left his future open.

Kaka will be remembered as being one of the elite Brazilian players that wowed the crowds and his list of silverware - both team and indvidual (including the Ballon d'Or) will strengthen that argument. He was the last player other than Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi to receive the prize.
Scooping the Serie A title in the 2003/04 season and the Italian Super Cup in the same year, Kaka would go on to taste heartbreak in the 2005 Champions League final in the iconic Istanbul clash with Liverpool.
Despite a collapsed move to the then-newly rich Manchester City, it was Real Madrid who lured Kaka away from the club where once said he wanted "to grow old". "So I want to prepare myself for this going ahead, to study, to follow, to be closer to certain clubs, especially those where I played", he told Globo.
