Police arrest suspected gunman in Yosif Al-Haswani murder case

Investigators looking into 'unauthorized' GoFundMe page for Yosif Al-Hasnawi

Police, who were tipped off about the "Hamilton Hero Funeral Fundraiser" GoFundMe page by the victim's family, issued a press release Thursday urging the public not to donate "as it is unknown where the money is actually going".

Police say their Major Fraud Branch is investigating the account.

"We can confirm that GoFundMe suspended the campaign and that we are looking into this", GoFundMe communications manager Rachel Hollis said in an emailed statement. "Unfortunately, he has not contacted us at all and instead removed the GoFundMe link from his Facebook page", said Doerr.

Police are hoping to speak with the man who created the account.
