NZ Police releases new recruitment campaign video

Police are dubbing it the

The World's Most Entertaining Police Recruitment Video went live at 5pm last night.

Filled with kilted drummers, pelvic-thrusting dance parties and entirely gratuitous flipping stunts, the quirky clip features about 70 officers trying to lure in new coworkers through the almost 3-minute-long video's fresh approach.

The video was initially launched on New Zealand Police Recruitment Facebook page, where it has since been viewed over one million times.

In recent years, New Zealand has provided us with some absolutely surreal and hilarious brilliant comedy films and TV shows - check out Flight of the Conchords, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Back of the Y, Black Sheep and Boy for proof of this - so we're not exactly surprised to see that this sense of humour extends into their police force.

Police deputy chief executive for public affairs Karen Jones said police wanted to attract people to the organisation who "bring their own skill set".

"Most importantly we want people who care about making our communities safe".

The Auckland Police pipe band also has an unusual starring role.

"The feedback we've been receiving from across New Zealand and the world since yesterday's launch has been phenomenal", Bush said in a statement.

Being a police officer may not be the job for you, but you gotta hand it to them - the recruitment video sure beats looking at online job listings.

"Our primary audience is 18-24 year olds, so it was a given we would use social media channels to reach our target markets".

It looks like the department's pretty proud of their viral video, calling it their "most entertaining recruitment video, yet!" The campaign will also run in cinemas, on television broadcast and on-demand, and there is an outdoor poster component.

If you have ever thought about joining a law enforcement team, the New Zealand police force make a compelling case.
