Actor Prakash Raj issues legal notice to BJP MP Pratap Simha

Prakash Raj

Popular south Indian actor Prakash Raj has served a legal notice to BJP MP Pratap Simha after he allegedly trolled him thereby causing disruption to his personal life.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Raj said, "MP Pratap Simha's comments with regard to the death of his 5-year-old son and his personal life were shocking and unacceptable, considering that it was coming from someone holding public office".

The actor had earlier called Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a bigger actor than himself and had condemned his silence over journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh's murder. "If he (Raj) continues to speak irresponsibly about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are going to teach him a lesson", Simha said.

Raj said the legal notice had nothing to do with the political party that Simha belongs to, but was only a fight against the individual. I have questioned his act of trolling. "I am asking him to answer legally, and if he doesn't I will be taking criminal action against him", Prakash Raj said. "Being sad due to your son's death, having left your wife and you ran behind a dancer...do you, Mr Raj, have any right, legitimacy or worthiness to say anything to Yogi-Modi?" When he goes to Tamil Nadu, he becomes Prakash Raj and in Karnataka, he is Prakash Rai. This, according to Raj, made his personal life very disturbing.

If an unconditional apology is not tendered by the MP, "my client will be constrained to initiate appropriate proceedings, both civil and criminal, including claiming monetary damages, which is in the process of contemplation", the legal notice issued by Prakash's lawyer read. On not questioning before when BJP members were killed, Prakash Raj said, "Many people were saying this to me that I should have started (questioning) before".
